Yes, actually, nobody. What is so exceptional about the success of this franchise? How did it happen that after such a period of time, filmmakers manage to keep the viewer's attention by repeating the same story for the ninth time? In my opinion, the formula for franchise success is very simple, as with the invention of the bicycle. Add two or three characters to the film who will be responsible for the humorous component throughout the duration. Spice it all up with a mountain of action, which will not interfere with the course of the plot; throw away the depth of dialogue, leaving only the epic in the speeches of the characters. Voila! You have a commercially successful product ready that will gather a huge target audience and a significant cash register. It is thanks to this formula that the franchise is still alive, and, I will say more, is not going to die.
I saw nothing new in Fast and Furious 9. Yes, the action scenes are still up to par, and the characters in the film both looked brutal and look. True, throughout the entire viewing of the film, I did not leave the feeling that Vin Diesel, who has been playing the role of Dominic Torreto for 20 years, is a little tired of the role of the godfather of all racers.
As if there is no fire or joy in his eyes from what is happening around the apocalypse. The same cannot be said about John Cena, whose appearance was announced in the first trailer. An actor with extraordinary abilities, who came to the cinema through wrestling, breaks on the screen thanks to his charisma and chemistry with Diesel's character.
In general, the director of the film, Justin Lin, coped with his task. Still, when you already have an established mechanism at hand that does not give misfires, it was rather difficult to cope with it. The film follows its main task - to entertain the viewer sitting in the hall. It is filled with humor, chases, conversations about family and brotherhood, good old characters that migrated from the first parts, causing a rush of nostalgia with their appearance.
